Brad Turner

Drums/Percussion

Brad Turner started playing drums in the 6th grade school band with a drum his brother had given him. After nagging his mother and father for a set they found a 1930s bass drum and an old cymbal. By 14 he was playing gigs and from then on he played on jazz, blues and rock recordings. After winning a national collegent award he went to Nashville were he played on the same bill with Elvin Bishop, members of the Doobie Brothers as well as other national country and rock acts. It was there he developed a love for southern rock. When One Way Out offered him the job as the drummer he jumped at the chance and has been with the band ever since, playing shows for many fans of the Allman Brothers.

Lead/Rhythm/Slide Guitar

Brian started playing guitar in the mid 70’s at age 10 while listening to Steve Miller, Led Zeppelin, Allman Brothers, Ted Nugent, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy and many more great bands due to his older sister’s extensive record collection. By age 15, he had his own band playing hard rock in the South Bay area of Southern California. Brian was fortunate to be able to practice and jam with other guitar players who were older and more experienced then he was and this helped him hone his playing skills and train his musical ear. Many of his mentors went on to be instructors at music schools or play in successful bands. Brian got into blues even more when the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan came on the scene in 1980. By 1987, Brian was playing the famous Hollywood Strip at clubs such as the Whiskey A Go Go, Gazzarri’s, the Troubador, the Country Club, the Roxy and more. Brian moved to Seattle in 1995. After working in Dutch Harbor, Alaska on a longliner fishing vessel for a season, he returned to Seattle in 1996 and played in various original blues rock bands such as the Trash Monquis and was a founding member of HooHead John, a band named after rotgut whiskey. After being mixed at Capitol Records, their debut CD called 100 Proof Rock and Roll was released in June 2001 to great reviews. The band played around the greater Seattle area for the next few years before splitting up in 2005. He was also a member of Whiskey Creek for a few years, a very successful Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band that has played around Seattle since 1982. In fall of 2006, Brian contacted the Allman Brothers Band for permission to form a tribute band in their honor. He was contacted back by Kirk West, the Allman Brothers Tour Manager, who gave him the bands blessing and in Feb 2007, One Way Out was born. And the road goes on forever….
